We are so excited to let our fans know that the Sun Sentinel has released an article today, Wed 2/1/12, about the Sidekicks band.  They also covered our recent performance at the South Florida Fair and our upcoming attendance at Connolly's I (C4C) Change 4 Change Cancer Benefit on 2/12/12 from 2pm-2am.  The interview was a great experience as we discussed how memebers started in music and how the experience of coming together as a band.

What a special night at the South Florida Fair on Saturday 1/21/12 at 9pm. The Sidekicks band had an opportunity to perform at the 100^th anniversary of the SFL Fair AND to also be on a Saturday night was unbelievable. The crowd was incredible as it kept growing larger and larger with each new song and then ending with a roaring cry for an encore from the huge crowd.

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! We all arrived early to pick-up our band credentials at the SFL Fair trailer, which was so cool. As more family and friends arrived we focused on getting our gear to the stage.  After navigating through all the fair traffic we made our way to the entertainment gate where, unbeknownst to us, security was meeting us to escort the cars to the back stage.  We were surprised to have security stopping people to allow our cars to pass through the walkways as we approached the stage area.  We finally arrived!

The SFL Fair Sun-Sentinel Stage “Starz of The Future” showcase ended at 8:30pm and we jumped right into setting up all the gear. As the audience watched on we setup the drums, amps, and guitars. The Fair stage staff setup the sound system and then we did a quick sound check.  SHOWTIME….it was incredible.  Cory Ricardy jammed so hard on the drums that he started to overheat, so he had to take his shirt off while a bunch of friends from school and fans cheered him on. Ryan Medina had the crowd stirred up with fans dancing and screaming as one female fan tried to get some moshing going. (but tio Mikey and cuzin Pichi were not familiar with the process…lol). The performance by red haired Melanie Medina on bass inspired shout-outs from the rocking fans.

Thanks again to all of our family, friends, fans and all the new fans that joined us for the show. The whole place ROCKED as people filled all the seats, stopped in the walkways, and joined the jam.

Special thanks to Maggi for her continued support of all young artists. Also a special thanks to family that traveled from Miami (Jen & Pichi), from Orlando (Maria T, Jorge, cuz David), and all our local family that came to suport us.

We joined the band ZEN at Connolly’s II on Thursday for another fun night. Steve Quinto, John Tolliver, and Jeff Baur have been so incredibly supportive. We can’t thank them enough as we had also joined them at Connolly’s I for ladies night the week before. The crowd response was great. We even had a bunch of ladies start dancing, doing band shout outs, and shouting for an encore!

The band Zen plays at Connolly’s I & II and also at other places around town so check them out. Many cool songs and they sound great. VISIT THE BAND ZEN

The Sidekicks have a lot of cool stuff going on right now :) On January 5th and 12th, we played our first two gigs together at Connolly's II, hosted by the awesome band Zen. The show was awesome and we made some new friends along the way. Great crowd at Connelly's II!  Check out the Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit" cover video we uploaded on the site.
 

Other great news, we're going to be special guests at the South Florida fair! On January 21st from 9-10pm The Sidekicks are scheduled to perform after the Starz of the Future Competition, so if you're planning on going to the fair, you should probably go then ;) Come on, JOIN US!

After a lot of hard work and preparation the band is ready to hit the road!  Already have our first gig at the Miramar Green Market which we are really looking forward to performing.  Dates and times to follow..just firming them up now.
